I bought something that has been on my wish list for over three years - a bio-mass stove. Though I have a propane back-up in case our natural gas goes, the propane bottles soon become useless. The bio-mass stove will cook with nothing more than twigs (or kindling). It also uses charcoal. I think it is a good investment.

What are the dimensions of this unit? Can you heat a small room with it during winter and where did you get it? I have never seen one before.

Here's the web site:

I bought mine from Amazon (free shipping):

As far as heating a room, I guess its possible with the normal precautions of ventilation and carbon monoxide.

I bought an EcoZoom a couple years ago, well maybe last year I don't remember. I haven't used it yet, just put it in my preps. Here is a video of actual use, I think it will be the best option to cook and prepare food, boil water, and cook just about anything with the resources at hand. I have been meaning to give it a trial run, might just do that tomorrow.

Also, a no brainer I have been working on for the past couple weeks.

Check around your home and make sure you don't have trees that have grown too big that they are a risk to your house. I have been trimming and culling the trees around my house, and adding to the wood pile for next year. I had a roof put on last fall and this year the trees are getting too tall that a good ice storm and strong wind may bring them down on my roof. Better to cull them on my time, then patching holes in the roof in the middle of an ice storm. It is also time to service the generator and as noted earlier sweep the chimney.

I was mildly shocked to see this man cooking bacon on his kitchen table. There did not seem to be any exhaust or smoke from the eco zoom as advertised. Must add one to my supplies.

I don't know if this guy is crazy in the head or not, but I would NEVER cook inside on anything using charcoal!

If you are talking about the video I linked, he is cooking on his back deck. You can see the exterior siding and shutters in the video. I think he has a screened deck or covered deck of some type (outdoor kitchen).

I totally agree that anyone burning anything indoors without a properly vented flue is asking for carbon monoxide poisoning. :dont:

Its not even National Preparedness month yet (Sep) and we have decided to pull out all stops on our preparedness actions, whether we become broke or not. The time is drawing nigh I think where we will be glad we did. We were blessed by Jesus once more in that a conversion has occurred in our oldest son. He is now a believer. Middle son, a little. Youngest son, a lot. Things are moving fast. Like Art Bell used to say, 'The Quickening'. Speculating on the cost of pork products, I just ordered some things from Pleasant Hill Grains: a case of canned bacon, a case of canned breakfast sausage, a case of canned cheddar cheese (NZealand), a case of egg crystals, and two cans of sealed heirloom seeds. Don't expect these things to last forever but when 'it all comes down' we should be comfortable for a while.

Precious metals!

I was listening to an old Coast to Coast show I had recorded back in 2006, the subject of which was 'The Illuminati Agenda'. It has blown my mind about just how much of that show has come true today. Two things I must mention about it. One is the chemtrail spraying. We have been speculating about weather modification as its main purpose but the guest on the show said that mood modification is also a goal of the spraying, that included in the spray is Prozac and other mood enhancement drugs. If you think this is far out just look at the statistics about the overall drop in violence that the alphabet agencies track. The other prediction at the time was that WW III would break out in the middle east between Zionism and Islam. Read between the lines on this one too. Obama is off on a two-week vacation while the middle east burns and Christians (including children) are being beheaded.

If anyone wants a copy of this four-hour show I will be happy to send it to you. Send me a private message with your name and mailing address. I do NOT keep names and addresses on file. I'll use it once. If I ever need to ask you again, I will ask you again.

Yes, there is a lot happening in the world lately and most of it is bad. My preps are the usual routine of picking fruit and de-hydrating some of it for winter storage, harvesting the veggies and freezing/canning them and getting the garden ready for next season. I have put up 5 cords of firewood in the shed and cleaned out the stove and stovepipe. Bought 2 bundles of insulation to be installed in my shop to help keep it warm in the winter and use less firewood. I did a trade with a friend, I replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets on one side of the V8 in his Chevy P.U. in exchange for a large bag of venison jerky and some bear and pork sausage. Also cleaned up dead debris from my curtelidge and hauled 2 pick up loads to the dump for forest fire safety as there are many large fires raging nearby. There were about 4 inches of dead cedar needles on my shop roof so I blew them off with my air compressor, raked them up and got them out of here. Have laid out all the hoses I own in strategic locations and mixed a can of oil/gas 2 cycle fuel for a portable water pump which is positioned next to my well pump house. Am in the process of trimming low branches from the trees along my driveway, doing an hour per day on this because the driveway is 700 feet long. So my preps are just routine chores that never seem to end.

In an emergency I suppose I would do just about anything, but I wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the manufacturer's statement on the Eco-Zoom stove. From a long family of firefighters I can't do anything less. When we lived in Italy a mother and her son were found dead in their apartment by the father who had been TDY. Remember the old Aladdin heaters? I just picked up the Eco-Zoom from the post office and took this picture of the box.

If I were living in a grass, thatched hut I wouldn't worry about ventilation either. :dont:

Maybe this should come under 'mindset' or 'paranoia', but to be honest, I have found less expensive purveyors of precious metal online (even including shipping). The reasons I buy from a local merchant are: 1) no paper trail; 2) supporting local economy. I don't even give out the name of the dealer except to other local patriots seeking to buy.

I had a buddy of mine that is a free range egg farmer to call and say he was culling about a dozen older hens that had slowed or stopped laying. So I was able to pick them up from him for 2.75 a bird and my son and I processed them yesterday afternoon. So a dozen healthy free range and cracked corn hens in the freezer for a couple hours work and a learning experience for my 13 y/o son.

I do believe that health preparedness is as important as physical preps. I am responding to an article that I posted yesterday about the use of elderberry extract. Wife and I have been taking elderberry extract daily for about ten years and during that time we have had no flu - we refuse to take flu shots. Between the two of us we have had three colds in ten years and they have been minor, lasting only a couple of days. Though we use this extract daily, we are going to start supplementing it with elderberry tea which you can buy commercially at your local health food store. I got ours on Amazon. Also [which is a little advanced for me] you can make your own tea using elderberry leaves, berries, twigs.

I'm a firm believer in the old saying 'if you save the pennies, the dollars will take care of themselves.' In fact, I have been accused of being a tightwad - all praises accepted! For the last several years I have been buying silver from a local coin dealer. I want to say from the beginning, he is a nice fellow and has always treated me fairly. He sells silver eagles [at the current price] for about $24 each. I found a place that sells them for about $20.50 each with free shipping. Silver 1-ounce rounds are even cheaper.. With a lot of trepidation I ordered 10 eagles and with a lot of satisfaction, I received them in three days! They have two price structures - cash (or electronic check) and credit card. Cash prices are even better. I have no problem recommending them:

What I saved on this one shipment enabled me to buy an extra silver eagle.

I do not use food banks - don't need the help and wouldn't even consider it. However, one time we made a food donation to them and while we were there, the director asked us if we liked powdered milk and grapefruit juice. Of course, powdered milk is a staple of Joseph's Storehouse and the juice was in cans. He told us to, take all we wanted, that he could not give it away. Same old mentality - Walmart will always be there with a cold gallon of milk. We were able to get 10 cases of grapefruit juice and 6 cases of powdered milk. Never overlook the possibility when people offer something to you.
