Spent an hour in pantry running the vacuum in preparation for mouse season. Did a quick visual of home-canned food for any signs of spoilage or loss of seal. Nothing, thank you Lord. Although we have not seen any signs of mice, laid down four new sticky traps just in case. Am going shopping tomorrow for a horizontal shoulder harness for my G43. Wife and I have decided that financial readiness is our top priority at this point. Quit for good from Sam's Club because the CEO of Sam's Club has said she will no longer interact with all-white companies and suppliers. Doesn't matter if they're good at what they do. If they're not black she does not want to do business with them. Anyway, we have to drive a 240-mile round-trip just to use them. We've found that we can beat their prices by careful shopping.

The ominous news out there has lit a fire under me to hit the reloading room. This past week I've added quite a stockpile of 223 rounds to the ammo cans. Of course, the Dillon 650 press is a huge help! I cast a pile of 00 buckshot last night and proceeded to fill up some shotgun hulls with those cute little pellets for ISIS to catch if they come knocking.

While we're on the subject of re-loading, a practical technical question. I've seen certain ammo advertised before called "snake shot". Cartridges for handguns that have buckshot in them instead of a lead bullet. Is this something feasible as a re-loading option? I'd love to be able to tear sidewinder's head to shreds instead of missing with a bullet in my panic. :snake:

My only experience with snake shot loads happened with a box of 22LR snake shot. The size of the shot was miniscule and the rounds looked like empty 22 cases with a wax plug in the end to contain the micro shot. I bought these to shoot rats with in the barn. I shot several at a distance of 4 feet and the shot had absolutely zero effect on the rats. It was a waste of money. A larger caliber snake shot round may be more effective though.

Interesting question. One could surely put plenty of shot into a larger case. I'm not sure if a 'wad' would be required to prevent the little bb's from scattering to the wind once they breached the muzzle. Time for a little research project....
