Keep in mind the feds have zero authority on your property, except in well defined circumstances (e.g., interstate commerce). For example, the feds tried to make it illegal to have a gun anywhere near schools, but the “law” was declared void, since that issue did not fall to interstate commerce.
The real enemy is, for the most part, the local politician. The politician is bound by oath, in his or her duties, to act in our best interests. A study of the forming documents (e.g., the Federalist papers and Antifederalist Papers), makes clear their obligation to protect and otherwise care for our civil liberties is paramount among those duties. Theirs is a fiduciary responsibility, for which they are well compensated. The breech of this duty is not to be lightly taken and can, in specific instances, result in hanging.
In spite of the foregoing, upon being offered federal money for a grant of indirect federal power, they take the carrot by implementing a state law mirroring what the federal government desires to implement, but cannot. Simply put, these politicians, whether out of greed, ignorance or stupidity, treat the liberties entrusted to their care as nothing more than bartering commodities to be used for financial gain.
